A Point Cook Medical Centre for Deanside Residents

Deanside is in the City of Melton, and it is a fair distance from Point Cook: about 22 km by road. This Point Cook practice is a medical centre for Deanside residents who are happy to make that drive, perhaps because they work in Wyndham, have family nearby or already know one of our GPs.

We have no clinic or doctor in Deanside, and we will not pretend the trip is short.

A suburb created in 2017

Deanside was one of 11 new suburbs created in the City of Melton in 2017, set up in the council’s growth areas. At the 2021 Census, ABS QuickStats counted 654 residents in 221 private dwellings, with a median age of 29.

Couples with children made up 56.6% of families, and one-parent families 18.5%. Households averaged 2.1 motor vehicles, which fits a suburb where most trips, including this one, are made by car.

How far is the medical centre from Deanside?

Most drives head east on the Western Freeway, leave at Robinsons Road, and continue south on Palmers Road before turning into Dunnings Road. It is about 22 km by road. Turn off Dunnings Road into the car park at the back of the building.

Getting more from each trip

Because the drive is long, plan visits so one trip does more. Dorevitch Pathology’s collection room at the clinic is open weekdays 8:00am until 3:00pm and Saturdays 9:00am until midday, so blood tests can often follow your consultation. Results usually arrive by text.

For follow-ups that do not need an examination, ask about a phone consultation. If you are due for a vaccine, a health assessment or a care plan review, raise it in the same booking.

When a closer option makes more sense

Do not drive to Point Cook in an emergency. Call 000 for chest pain, stroke signs or severe bleeding. When the clinic is closed, 13 SICK (13 7425) gives after-hours help.

If you are not sure whether a problem can wait, healthdirect runs a free 24-hour health advice line on 1800 022 222. For anything that needs a doctor the same day, a GP nearer Deanside will usually be quicker to reach than us.

Deanside residents ask

How do I make Juniper my registered practice?

The Department of Health says eligibility for MyMedicare usually starts after two in-person appointments at one practice within 24 months. Our MyMedicare page explains the steps.

Are children’s vaccines bulk billed?

Yes. Immunisations for children and adults are bulk billed by all of our GPs. Our child immunisation page has more.

Will I pay an out-of-pocket fee?

Possibly. Juniper is a mixed billing clinic. If you hold a DVA card or are a pensioner over 65, or the visit is for a vaccine or a GP care plan, it is bulk billed. The fees page lists the rest.
