A Medical Centre near Sanctuary Lakes

People in Sanctuary Lakes already live in Point Cook, so finding a medical centre near Sanctuary Lakes does not mean a long drive. Juniper Avenue Medical Centre is at 2 Juniper Ave, about 4 km by road from the lakes. We have one clinic and no rooms inside the estate: every appointment is either at Juniper Avenue or a phone consultation.

Our GPs and nurses look after babies, school-age children, working adults and older patients. Below you will find the route, the kinds of care locals tend to book, and how billing works.

A medical centre close to Sanctuary Lakes

Sanctuary Lakes is the estate built around the lakes and golf course on the eastern side of Point Cook, and homes there carry Point Cook VIC 3030 addresses. The Census does not count it as a separate suburb. The 2021 figures for the whole of Point Cook on ABS QuickStats show 66,781 residents, a median age of 33 and 63.4% of families being couples with children.

For you, that means Juniper is a neighbourhood practice rather than a trip across town. A short drive makes it easier to keep regular reviews, bring a child in before school or slot a visit in after work, since we open until 8:00pm on weekdays.

Getting from the lakes to Juniper Avenue

The clinic is west-north-west of the estate. Most drives follow Sanctuary Lakes Boulevard and Jamieson Way, then Lennon Boulevard, and measure about 4 km by road. Allow a little longer at school times.

Patient parking is behind the building, and you drive in from Dunnings Road. The address and parking details are also on our contact page.

Choosing one regular practice

Seeing the same practice over time means your history, results and medicines are in one place. MyMedicare formalises that link. According to the Department of Health, registration is voluntary and free, and you are generally eligible once you have had two face-to-face visits with the same practice in the previous 24 months. Registered patients can access longer Medicare-funded telehealth consultations with their GP.

Reception can help you with MyMedicare registration once you meet the rule.

Sun, water and skin checks

Lakeside walks, golf and weekends in the backyard add up to a lot of hours outdoors. Cancer Council advises following the SunSmart steps whenever the UV Index is 3 or above, and points out that UV can be high on cool or overcast days.

A spot that is new, growing or changing is worth showing a GP. You can book a skin check for a full look over your skin, with photography where needed.

Tests, results and after hours

Dorevitch Pathology collects on site from 8:00am to 3:00pm on weekdays and 9:00am to 12:00pm on Saturdays, closed Sundays, so blood tests can often be done on the day of your consultation. Results are usually sent by text, with urgent ones followed up by phone. Reception cannot read results out, so book a visit to go through them.

When the clinic is closed, ring 13 SICK (13 7425). For chest pain, severe breathing difficulty or any emergency, call 000.

What a visit costs

We are a mixed billing clinic. Bulk billing applies with every doctor for DVA card holders, pensioners over 65, childhood and adult immunisations, and GP care plans. Other consultations may have an out-of-pocket fee, as each practitioner sets their own fees. Fees are paid on the day by card, and the Medicare rebate can go straight back onto your card. The fees page has the full list.

Questions from Sanctuary Lakes residents

Can I walk in without booking?

Walk-in appointments are available with a private fee. Booking ahead keeps costs predictable, and you can book online at any hour.

Can a doctor call me instead of seeing me?

Yes, phone consultations are available. Ask reception how to book one and what it costs. The doctor rings on the day you booked, though not at a set time.

Do you see children as well as adults?

Yes. Our GPs provide paediatric care, and every one of our doctors bulk bills childhood immunisations.
