A Medical Centre for Werribee Residents
Werribee and Point Cook share the 3030 postcode, but they are separate suburbs about 9 km apart by road. If you are weighing up a Werribee medical centre against a practice a little further east, this page explains how Juniper fits: one clinic, on Juniper Ave in Point Cook, used by people who make the drive for a regular GP.
Appointments can be made when it suits you: book online or phone (03) 9395 5566.
Driving over from Werribee
The clinic is east-north-east of central Werribee. Take the Princes Highway out towards the Princes Freeway, follow the freeway east to the Forsyth Road exit, then travel south on Boardwalk Boulevard as far as Dunnings Road. That is about 9 km. Enter the car park behind the clinic from Dunnings Road.
Werribee today: large, growing and young
Wyndham City calls Werribee one of the oldest, most established areas of the municipality, first settled more than 150 years ago. It is also large: about 50,000 people lived there at the 2021 Census (ABS QuickStats), with a median age of 35. Children under five made up 7.5% of residents, and one-parent families accounted for about 19% of families, compared with 15% across Victoria.
Punjabi, Karen, Italian and Hindi were among the most common languages spoken at home after English. If an interpreter would help, let reception know at booking.
Pregnancy and the first year
With so many young families, pregnancy care is likely to matter to a lot of Werribee households. The Australian Government recommends the whooping cough vaccine between 20 and 32 weeks of every pregnancy and the maternal RSV vaccine at 28 to 36 weeks. Influenza, whooping cough and RSV vaccines are all free during pregnancy under the National Immunisation Program.
Our pregnancy care and antenatal care pages cover the visits along the way. After the birth, babies have their first immunisations at 6 weeks of age, explained on the child immunisation page.
Asthma and breathing
Asthma was reported by 8.8% of Werribee residents in 2021. A written asthma action plan, a check of how you use your inhaler and a regular review can make a real difference. See asthma management for what a review covers.
If someone is struggling to breathe, cannot speak in full sentences or is not improving with their reliever, call 000.
Mental health support from a medical centre near Werribee
Anxiety, depression and other mental health conditions were reported by about 9.3% of Werribee residents. Talking to a GP is a reasonable first step, and our anxiety and depression page explains what that conversation can lead to, including a mental health treatment plan and referral for counselling.
For immediate support at any hour, call Lifeline on 13 11 14.
Billing and fees
We use mixed billing rather than bulk billing everyone. Childhood and adult immunisations, GP care plans, DVA card holders and anyone on a pension aged over 65 are bulk billed with all doctors, and other visits may have an out-of-pocket cost that varies a little by doctor. Current amounts are on the fees page.
Common questions
Is the clinic in Werribee?
No. It is in Point Cook, roughly 9 km away by road, and it is our only location.
Are babies’ vaccines free?
Vaccines on the national schedule cost nothing, and childhood immunisations are bulk billed at our clinic. Ask about the flu vaccine for the rest of the family too.
How do I find out about my test results?
You are usually notified by text, or by phone if a result is urgent. Reception cannot give results over the phone, so book a visit to discuss them with your doctor.
